Obituary for Albert "Baldy" Kelly Sr.

Elder Albert "Baldy" Kelly, Sr. was born to the late, Carrie Cherry Boston Parnell and Jesse Kelly, in Wayne County, GA on June 17, 1930. He was a truck driver at Harris Gin Company for over 50 year. He started at Harris Gin Company when he was 15 and retired at age 65. He was recognized for 50 years for perfect attendance at work. In 1993, Elder Kelly was appointed to the office of Pastor at St. Paul Holiness of the Church of God in Unity (COGIU). In addition, he was also appointed to the office of Presiding Elder of District #3 of the COGIU. In 2019, the weeping pastor became the Presiding Elder Emeritus in the COGIU. He served faithfully and humbly until his death.

Presiding Elder Kelly was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Elizabeth Sharp Kelly, on December 29, 1971 in Blackshear, GA. They have been married for over 49 years. From this union they have a combined total of 13 children.

Elder Kelly passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, Ga. He is preceded in death by both parents, Carrie Cherry Boston Parnell and Jesse Kelly, his daughter, Carolyn Kelly, brother, Anderson “Rat” Kelly.

Presiding Elder Kelly is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kelly; his sons, Frederick Kelly, James Jernigan (Tammy), Albert Kelly, Jr., Spencer Kelly (Amy), and Christopher Kelly (Ebony); his daughters, Kathy Richardson, LaWanda Wright, Charlotte Norwood (Greg), Sandra Jernigan, Dorothy Jernigan, Betty Sue Jernigan, and Bonnie Jernigan; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.

Presiding Elder Kelly will be buried at the Sunset Oak Memorial Cemetery at 12 p.m., on Monday, March 1, 2021. Elder Beverly Rooks will officiate the service.
