Obituary for Angela Little (Patterson)

Angela Delores Patterson Little Calhoun was born on July 12, 1957, to the late, Hazel (Teddy) Patterson and Willie Mae Latson in Jesup, Ga. Angela was educated and graduated from the Wayne County High School and furthered her education at Ware County Technical College becoming a Licensed Cosmetologist. Her work history included that of being an entrepreneur, owner and operator of Angela’s Beauty Salon, she was a former employee of Wayne County Board of Education, working as a Teacher’s Aide and Bus Driver for 10 years and as an instructor with Jesup Head Start. Angela was a former member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the pianist for Choir #1 and also on the Junior Usher Board. Later in life, Angela became a member of Mt. Mariah AME Methodist Church where she was the church pianist. She was truly a blessing to the Jesup Community and the local male and female chorus by using her God given talent of piano playing. Anytime there was a need for a piano player, she was always willing and able to step in with a smile. She was well respected and loved by everyone that knew her. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, fishing and spending time with her family.

Angela passed away on January 04, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by both parents, Hazel (Teddy) Patterson and Willie Mae Latson; her father in-law, Joshua Howard, Sr.; her sister in-law, Naomi Matthis and her brother in-law, Bobby Calhoun.

Survivors include her beloved husband, David Calhoun, Homerville, Ga.; her two sons, Nicholes Little, Savannah, Ga. and Christopher Little of a Jesup, Ga.; her grandchildren, Nicholes, Jr., Khloe and Gabrielle Little of Savannah, Ga.; her only sister, Thelma Dowling, Jesup, Ga.; her last surviving aunt, Mable King of Charlotte, North Carolina; her favorite nephews, Rodrick Dowling, Houston, Tx. and Randall Dowling, Jesup, Ga.; her close nieces, Rhonda Dowling Tanksley, Augusta, Ga. and Pakisha Paschal Dowling, Houston, Tx.; her great niece, Marie Lynn Dowling, Houston, Texas; her great nephews, Riley Dowling, Jesup, Ga. and DaVonte’ Taylor Dowling, Atlanta, Ga.; her loving mother in-law, Mary L. Calhoun, Augusta, Ga.; her sisters in-law, Dorothy Elaine Calhoun and Becky Bryant, Augusta, Ga. and Martha White of Waycross, Ga.; her brother in-law, Joshua Howard (Tonya) Calhoun, Jr., Homerville, Ga. and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A viewing will be held on Monday, January 09, 2023, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine St., Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 @ 2:00 pm at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, 401 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Services will be followed by cremation.
