Obituary for Annie Melvin (Fields)

Annie Pearl Fields-Melvin, 88, of Screven, Ga. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 08, 1932 to the late, Hosie and Carrie Travet Fields in Wrightsville, Ga. (Johnson County). Annie Pearl worked most of her life as a domestic homemaker and she was adopted into the Smith family. She was a member of First A.B. Church in Screven, Ga.; and she also attended New Bethel Life Changing Ministries. She loved the Lord and enjoyed worshiping him every chance she was given. Her hobbies included fishing, sewing, and she enjoyed cooking and feeding anyone that was hungry.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Hosie and Carrie Travel-Fields; her husband of (65) years, L.B. Melvin, Sr.; a son, David E. Boone; her grandchildren, Yuki Ray, DeVontea Ray and Roger Bennett; a brother, Ozzie Fields and a sister, Lena M. Fields.

Those left to cherish her memory: her loving children, JoAnn (Louis) Wilkins, Jesup, Ga.; Helen Fields, Vero Beach, Fl., Diane Fields, Screven, Ga., L.B. (Alma) Melvin, Jr., Screven, Ga. and Lewis Melvin, Hinesville, Ga.; a sister, Bernice Fields Crawford; close friends, Marilyn and Sharon Vail, both of Screven, Ga.; (20) grandchildren; (42)great grandchildren; (45) great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


A walk thru viewing will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 @ 10:00 a.m. at Jesup City Cemetery, N. 1st Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Everyone planning to attend services are asked to wear your masks and adhere to the social distancing guidelines set by your local health authorities.
