Obituary for Arthur Green Sr.

Bishop Arthur D. Green, Sr., 84, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on December 11, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 28, 1938 to the late, Arthur and Jonathan Lawrence Green in Detroit, Michigan. Arthur was educated in the Wayne County Training School and had been a life long member of Greater St. James Temple of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. Arthur Green has served in the ministry for (60 plus) years, stemming from Warren Grove Holiness Church in Rentz, Ga. and Hebron Temple in Blackshear, Ga. before returning to his home church. His work history comprised of working as a Certified Meat Cutter at Winn Dixie, Spells Meats, Blanton's Meat Market. He was also employed at Wayneline Furniture and as a fuel truck driver.

Bishop Green was the former husband of the late, First Lady Rose A. Green who passed away on September 17, 2003, and to this union four children were born, Sondra R. Weaver, JoAnne Donnatien, Arthur D. Green, Jr. and Pamela D. Green. On November 13, 2004, Bishop Green was united in holy matrimony to First Lady and Pastor Havannah Mitchell-Green, to whom he has shared the past (18) years with. Bishop Green enjoyed praising the Lord, cooking, singing, playing the guitar, watching the westerns and spending time with his family. Before his health began to fail, he had spent the last (37) years as the Pastor of Greater St. James Temple of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Arthur and Jonathan Lawrence Green and his siblings, Betty J. Hines, Carolyn Duncan, James Green, Nathaniel Green, Daniel Green, Sr. and Edward Green, Sr.

Those left to cherish his memories: His loving wife, Pastor Havannah Green, Jesup, Ga.; his children, Sondra R. Weaver, Rome, Ga., JoAnne Donnatien and Pamela D. Green, both of Jesup, Ga., Arthur D. Green, Jr, Jacksonville, Fl., Tanji Petterson (Pastor Jerome), Augusta, Ga., Davonda Houston of Jesup, Ga., Olen Houston and Isaiah R. Houston, both of Jesup, Ga; one sister, Beverly Gerard, Jesup, Ga.; his sisters in law, Aretha (Jessie) Miles and Dorothy Wright, both of Jesup, Ga.; a brother in law, Joe Mitchell, Atlanta, Ga.; (15) grandchildren; (29) great grandchildren; those that he referred to as his children, Denise Jimoh, April Bacon, Roberta McCray, Vincent Ross and Sam Tippins.

A wake/visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Greater St. James of the Apostolic Faith, 535 White Star Road, Screven, Ga. 31560 from 4:00 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 @ 11:00 a.m. at St. John First Born Holiness Church, 386 W. Poplar Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545
