Avia Maria Mobley-Nix, "aka, Peet Moss and Spider", 67, of Jesup, Ga. transitioned on Monday, July 10, 2023 at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Ga. following a lengthy illness. She was born on January 28, 1956 to Melvin Mobley, Jr. and Carrie Hill Mobley in Jesup, Ga. “Maria” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends was educated in the public school system of Wayne County. She later attended Savannah State College where she majored in accounting. Her work history included employment with Fashion Apparel and as a transit driver for Concerted Services. Maria was a member of Morning Glory Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the choir, on the financial board and on the kitchen committee. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Mobley, Jr. and her brother, Jerry Mobley.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of (24) years, Nathaniel Nix, Jesup, Ga.; her mother, Carrie Hill Mobley, Hinesville, Ga.; her children, Patrick Mobley (Chrystal Evans) , Denton, Tx., Kristi Mobley, Marcie Fields (Vincent) Roberts and Faith Fields, all of Jesup, Ga., Nathaniel Nix, Jr. and Nyoka (Morris) Fuller, both of Jesup, Ga., Tyrone (Latoya) Nix, South Carolina and Tamika (Stanley) Jones of New Jersey; her siblings, Patricia Lawson, Savannah, Ga., Dr. Debra F. Mobley- Sadler, Waco, Tx., Melvin (Carol) Mobley III, Pittsburg, Tennessee, Mark (Dana) Mobley, Norfolk, Va., Michael (Tarnisha M.) Mobley of Jesup, Ga., Jaundalyn Mobley, Hinesville, Ga., Mitchell (Debra) Mobley, Hinesville, Ga.; also to include her grafted siblings, Dr. Marcus and Wylene Martin, Ruth Savage, Gussie Brown, Rebecca Frazier, Melvin Tally, Spencer White, III and Elizabeth Smith; her aunts, Almetia Sanders, Hinesville, Ga., Dorothy Whitaker, St. Marys, Ga., Eloise Hill, Pembroke, Ga., Rosie Thomas, Jacksonville, Fl., Deloris Hill, Kingsland, Ga., Vernellen Rauls, Kingsland, Ga., Cassandra (Kirk) Logan, Corpus Christi, Tx., Shirley Hill, Atlanta, Ga. ; her uncles, Bishop Lewis Hill, Pembroke, Ga., Calvin (Ervina) Hill, Kingsland, Ga. and Melvin Monroe, Screven, Ga.; her godsons, Josiah Mobley and Nicholas Johnson; her best friends, Hattie Lee Williams and Dorothy Randolph; her caretaker, Quaesha Simmons; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 @ 11:00 am at Morning Glory Baptist Church, 277 Boston Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, 9732 Cecil Nobles Hwy, Ludowici, GA 31316
