Obituary for Berma Owens Sr.

Berma J. Owens, Sr., 68, of Woodbine, Ga., passed away on March 3, 2020, at S.E. Georgia Healthcare System, Brunswick Campus, following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 5, 1951, in Fernandina Beach, Fl., to the late, Trennial Owens, Sr. and Ethel Scott-Owens. Berma was educated in Camden County, Ga., and graduated from Ralph J. Bunche High School in the Class of 1970. After high school, he attended Savannah Technical College where he studied Auto Mechanics and Truck Driving, and his employment included his time spent at Terminal Bag Company in Yulee, Fl. Berma, later became an owner/operator truck driver. He was a member of Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church and was also a member of the local Chapter of Independent Masonic Lodge #69 of Woodbine, Ga. His hobbies included fishing, working on the broken vehicles, hunting, and football. Berma was a unique man. He would do anything he could to help anyone, he was 'that' kind of son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, that will forever be etched in the hearts of those that knew him. Berma was preceded in death by both parents, Trennial and Ethel Scott-Owens, Sr.

Survivors include: his wife, Sherrell "Brenda" Graham-Owens, St. Mary's, Ga.; a devoted daughter, Marodta Owens, Brunswick, Ga., his sons, Jermaine ( Markita) England, Troy, Al., Berma Owens, Jr., Brunswick, Ga., and Quenton Owens, Live Oak, Fl.; five grandchildren, Javon, Paris, Jabari, Kameron and Romain; three sisters, Theodoshia Carswell, Overland Park, Kansas, Georgia (Marion) Baker, Yulee, Fl., and Shirley Owens, Woodbine, Ga.; two brothers, Trennial Owen's, Jr., Covington, Ga. and Willie J. (Denise) Owens, Woodbine, Ga.; his aunt, Elizabeth Mitchell, Sanford, Fl.; his god daughter, Diamond Green, Atlanta, Ga.; god sister, Nancy Walker-Bennett; devoted relatives, Sara McCombs, Emma Mae Davis, Parish Family and Drummond Family; special nieces and nephews, Katura Owens, Jean-DeVette (Nathaniel) Baker, Keith Jordon and Hosea Minuez; close friends, Larry Jackson, Eddie Drummond, Damian Green and Joe Hutchinson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
