Obituary for Berry Hamilton Sr.

Pastor Berry Lee Hamilton Sr. was born to the late, Lucious and Almeta Hamilton on July 20, 1946 in Folkston, GA. He received his formal education from the local school systems. He later attended Luther Rice College and Seminary in Jacksonville, FL where he received his degree in Biblical Studies. He was a Sales Agent for over 20+ years for Peninsula Insurance Company, after retirement he became a Paraprofessional for Charlton County School Systems.

He was joined in holy matrimony to the Love of his life, Martha Lee Hamilton for 56 years. Even as his health was failing sharing the memories of their marriage was always a joy for him and an absolute delight to all that were blessed to hear it. They were blessed to raise five children.

Berry Lee accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age, he attended Jerusalem Holiness Church in Folkston, GA. He later moved his membership to Holy Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late, Bishop C.D. Kinsey. He was an active member in the ministry serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Bus Driver, Deacon and Treasurer. He was ordained as an Elder by the Late, Bishop C.D. Kinsey. He was called to lead St James House of God Saints in Christ, Kingsland, GA in 1984. He served faithfully as their Pastor until retiring in 2017.

Berry Lee transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, April 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucious Sr. and Almeta Hamilton and one brother, John Allen Hamilton.

Berry Lee leaves to cherish his memory: his Loving and devoted wife, Martha Lee Hamilton; his devoted children who adored him, Robert (Patricia), Carletha (Michael), Michelle (Sam), Antionette (Joseph), Latonya (Kathleen), and Berry Jr. (Amanda); 15 Grandchildren: Kevin, Jarell, Deloria, Javari Sr., Jason, Marquis, Donovan, Maya, Brittany, Leseanda, Destiny, Mila, Makayla, Macie and Morgan;10 Great Grandchildren: Nasir, Shariff, Jackson, Javari Jr, Rylee, Aaliyah, Ava, Skylar, Braylen and Bailey; one Favorite Sister, Kay Hamilton Biggins; three Favorite Brothers, Lucious Hamilton Jr (Leila), Lester Hamilton (Patricia) and Larry Hamilton (Patsy); two sister-in-laws, Yvette Lesesne (Al) and Gloria Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be a public viewing held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 5-7 pm at New St. James Fellowship COGIC, 463 Kinlaw Road, Woodbine, Ga. 31569.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 416 Dixie Lake Road, Folkston, Ga. 31537

Interment in Mt. Carmel Memorial Cemetery, Folkston, Ga.
