Deaconess Betty Lou Deloach Turner was born on December 14, 1936 to the late, Ms. Eula Mae Tucker of Douglas, GA. and Bishop George Isaiah Boykins Deloach and beloved Mother Louise Deloach of Savannah, GA. She attended West Savannah Elementary School. At an early age, she moved to Jesup, GA. to live with her paternal grandparents, Carrie Deloach and Bozzie Deloach and attended Wayne County Training School where she was lead majorette. Betty joined Bennett Union Baptist church at an early age where she accepted Christ as her Lord and savior, attended Bible study, Sunday School and church services. She was apart of the church prayer team, and a deaconess. Betty worked as a seamstress at Ashely Manufacturing until her retirement. She loved sewing, traveling, attending church, and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She was a girl scout leader for many years.
She was a dedicated wife and mother to her biological children, grandchildren and other children that visited her home daily. Betty was married to the late, Jerry L. Turner, Sr. for over 58 years, before his passing in 2015. To this union was born five children: Pastor Ann T. Bentley (The late Bishop Joseph Larry Bentley, Jr.) of Waycross, GA ; Jerry L. Turner, Jr. of Jesup, GA; Retired Sergeant 1st Class Demauro D. Turner (Bi) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; Lisa D. Bellmon (Dwayne) of Snellville, GA; Kacilya L. Turner Beal of Snellville, GA; Adopted daughter, Xavier Turner, Savannah, GA; one shared-daughter, the late, Carolyn Turner-Wingard. Children in love, Darrell Mungin and Dalphine Jackson (Tommy). Her longtime special friends, Lettie Drummer, Eliza Darden and Johnnie May Scott.
She is preceded in death by siblings: Elijah and (Lillie Bell) Deloach; Clinton Deloach; Presiding Elder Edmond Boykins; Eugene (RAT) Deloach; George Deloach, Jr. Lawrence (Pam) Deloach; Isiah Deloach, Pastor Verdie Banner, Pastor Gracie Robinson and (Pastor Charles Robinson); Evangelist Angel Deloach; Rose and Fred Turner, Jr.; Henry Furr; Nathaniel Robinson; mother and father-in law, Mary and Fred Turner Sr. and grandchildren, Stacy N. Turner and Abdul (Duke) Wingard.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her siblings: Apostle Dr. Carrie Coppock; Evangelist Juanita Banner; Mother Theta (Johnny) Ziegler; all of Savannah GA, Bro. Ozzie (Debbie) Deloach, of Augusta, GA; Deacon Willie (Jessie) Deloach, Bro. Sidney (Sandra) Deloach, Pastor Joseph Deloach all of Savannah, GA.
Sisters in love: Evangelist Francis Boykins, of New Jersey, Addie Robinson of Snellville, GA; Lillian Furr of Decatur, GA; Jannette Deloach of Norcross, GA.
She leaves to celebrate her life, her grandchildren: Joseph L. W. Bentley, III (Elizabeth) of Riverview, FL; Betia K. Bentley of Atlanta, GA; Gabriel U. Bentley of Atlanta, GA; Keyonna Boone of Newport News, VA ; Xavier (Tootney) Turner of Savanah, GA; India Turner and Mikayah Beal of Atlanta, GA; Anton (Bubba) Beal of Portsmouth; Demauro (Mauro)Turner of Chillicoche, Ohio; Calandra (Gidget) Clark Wingard of Jesup; Donta’e of South Carolina, (13) grandchildren, (31) great grandchildren and (15) great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A walk thru viewing will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 @ 1:00 p.m. at Jesup City Cemetery, N. First St., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
