Obituary for Bobby "Po Bob" Jones Sr.

Mr. Bobby Jones Sr., affectionately known as “Po Bob”, of Jesup, Georgia, transitioned from his earthly home on to his heavenly estate on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, after a brief illness at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded and supported by his loving children and caregivers during the last days of his life.

He was born April 18, 1957 in Jesup, GA to the late Johnny Lee Jones and the late Cora Lee Jones. He was educated in the Wayne County School System. He worked as an employee of the City of Jesup Water Department, where he dutifully served for a innumerable amount of years. At an early age, Mr. Jones professed his faith in Jesus Christ, becoming a member of Saint Paul Holiness Church of God in Unity. In 1989, he joined Piney Grove Holiness Church of God in Unity, under the leadership of Elder Leroy Jackson, Sr. Mr. Jones loved the Lord with all of his heart and soul and faithfully proclaimed the power of God’s love throughout his many works.

In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports, and spending time with his close friends and family. His outgoing spirit and vibrant personality would always fill any room he entered. “Po Bob” was definitely the life of the party! He was loved and adored by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memories are a son, Bobby (Gia) Jones Jr., two daughters, Quintina Jones and Brittany Jones; six siblings, Arthur (Cynthia) Jones, Willie (Belinda) Jones, Felton (Shirley) Jones, Teresa Lanier, Wayne Lanier, and Candice Jones; one grandson, Ayden Michael Jones, and a host of devoted uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces, and special friends.

There will not be a visitation. A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 10 am until the time of service at Royal Funeral Home Chapel.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 05, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545. Services will be followed by cremation.

Everyone planning to attend are required to wear a mask to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
