Obituary for Byron "Big Doom" Doomes

Byron Bernard Doomes, a.k.a. "Big Doom", 39, of Macon, GA. departed this life on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Piedmont Hospital in Macon, GA. Byron was born on October 14,1981 in Jesup, GA to Marietta Poole and George Doomes. He accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Jesup, GA.

He graduated from Colquitt County High School. He was a proud HBCU Alumnus, graduating from THE Albany State University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Education. He later, attended THE Fort Valley State University, earning a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. He originally worked as a teacher, until he found what he really loved to do, counseling. He worked as a Licensed Therapist for a crisis hotline with Behavioral Health Link, based in Atlanta, GA.

He enjoyed watching wrestling, anime (Japanese animation), and movies. He was a philosopher at heart and enjoyed deep discussions about the mysteries of the universe and studying astronomy. He also enjoyed fishing with his father and playing video games with his wife and friends. He was passionate about swimming, football and Hip-Hop.

He was a devoted husband, son, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Porsha Doomes; his mother, Marietta (Dwight) Poole, his father, George Doomes; his sisters, Ashland Doomes, Latricia Poole, Demetria Poole, Mia Kelly and Heather Hardison; his brother, Dwight Poole, Jr.; his nephews, Logan Davis and Ethan Poole; his mother-in-love, Paranda Williams, his father-in-love, Broadus Williams, two brothers-in-love, Broadus and Cameron Williams, and two sisters-in-love, Amber and Aliseya Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

There will be a walk thru viewing on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m, at Odum City Cemetery, 735 Tillman Street, Odum, Ga. 31555

Everyone planning to attend either service is asked to wear your masks and observe the social distancing guidelines set by the local health officials and the CDC to further prevent the spread of Covid. Your cooperation in this matter is very much appreciated.
