Obituary for Charles Mitchell

Charles Edward Mitchell was born in Woodbine, Georgia on March 31,
1946 to the late Carl and Beatrice Mitchell. Charles transitioned to his
heavenly home on the night of November 10, 2018.

At an early age Charles he became a member of Ebenezer Missionary
Baptist Church. Charles was educated in the Camden County school
system. He played center on the 1960 Ralph J. Bunche State
Championship football team. He was a member of the Ralph J. Bunche
graduating class of 1964. After graduating from high school, he moved to
New Jersey. He joined the Deliverance Center under Apostle Arturo
Skinner. After several years he moved back to Woodbine and reunited with
Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon
and was currently serving in that capacity at St. Matthews Missionary
Baptist Church.

He always had a passion for driving trucks, so he pursued truck driving as
a career for many years. Over the years, he also developed an interest in
mortuary science, and moved to Atlanta to pursue an education in that
field. While attending school he worked part time at Sellers Brothers
Funeral Home. He moved back to Camden County and worked at the
Butler Funeral Home for many years. After several years, he returned to his
passion of driving truck. His most recent employment was as a bus driver
for the Charlton County Board of Education. The children on his route held
a very special place in his heart.

In 1996, Charles was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ruby Reed and accepted
her children as his own.

Charles was known for his love for family, having a giving heart, and his
enjoyment of fishing and gardening.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Beatrice Mitchell;
brother : Carlton Mitchell; sisters: Cheryl Mitchell and Laura Mitchell
Young.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife Ruby; sister: Louise
Mitchell; brother: Arthur Mitchell; daughters: Beatrice Denise Dallas
Kirkland (William), whom he affectionately called Niecy Mae and Tera
Baker; sons: Anthony Baker (Shani) and Darrell Baker(Sharon);
granddaughters: Ayan Brown, Shayla Blackshear and Cedes Baker;
grandsons: William Kirkland Jr., Terrance Dallas, Tyler Kirkland, AJ
Baker, Isaiah Baker , and Colby Baker; great grandson: Zyien Currington;
Godson: Robert Young(Toyya); brothers-in- law: Al Reed(Mary), Cecil
Reed(Annette) and Kenneth; sisters-in-law: Castella Bolden and Helen
Reed; a host of sorrowing nieces, great nieces, nephews, great
nephews and cousins; a very special cousin, Clifton Mitchell, who was
his fishing and gardening partner; a very special young man , Terry
Campbell , whom he called his adopted son and a host of sorrowing
friends.

Funeral services will beheld at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 18, 2018,
at Mount New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 416 Dixie Lake Road,
Folkston, Georgia 31537. Burial will be in Brickyard Cemetery, Kings Ferry,
Florida.
