Obituary for Charmain Simmons (Simmons)

Charmain V. Simmons, 68, a resident of Jesup, Ga. and native of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on January 14, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on July 29, 1952 to the late, Andrew and Daisy Ellarbee-Simmons in Philadelphia, PA. Charmain was a member of The Upper Room Baptist Church in Philadelphia, where she was also a retired Pre-School Teacher. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, working crossword puzzles and cracking jokes with family and friends. Charmain was always the life of every party and reunion and will forever be remembered for her kind, loving spirit. She also sang in the Simmons Family Choir.

Charmain was preceded in death by her siblings, Vivian, Emma, Ronald, and Gregory Simmons, and god daughter, Lacy.

She leaves to mourn: her loving daughter, Stefanie Turner, Jesup, GA and her loving son, Christopher Turner, Fredricksburg, VA; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Tamisha, Jayden and Cherish; two god daughters, Andrea McCrae and Nakisha Brown, both of Philadelphia, PA; her sister, Laura Barbour; sisters in-law, Debra James-Werts, Rosalyn Simmons and Quentetta (Warren) Coleman; her aunt, Catherine Jackson; her uncle, Vernon (Letticoe) Williams; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss Charmain dearly.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date once the COVID 19 pandemic has passed and it is safe to gather and celebrate her life.
