Obituary for Christopher "Hommie" Turner

Christopher Byshawn Turner, AKA "Hommie", 30, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 26, 1990 to Shonda Curtis-Lopez and the late, Christopher Turner. Christopher was a graduate of Wayne County High School Class of 2010. He was employed with Pineland Group Home and the Department of Transportation. Christopher was a member of Gilead Ministry Center under the leadership of Bishop Kendall L. and Mary Shaw, better known as, Papa and Big Mama. Christopher had a heart of gold and loved helping anyone who came in his path. He enjoyed cooking, shopping and being with his family and friends, and thoroughly enjoyed being his mother's Uber Driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Turner; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Etta Curtis and his paternal grandparents, Fred and Rose Turner.

Christopher leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Shonda (Luis) Lopez; his siblings, Cornelius Curtis, Caniyah Rivera, Cristal Rivera, Ca'Markus McGriff, Chelsae Lopez, Daniel Walthour, Ashley Ortiz, Hashim Ortiz and Christal Stovall; his grandson, Jaydon Durden; his godsisters, Tayvon Weatherspoon, Tay Wingard, Kelsi Adams, Devonha Merritt and Alexis Bell; his special cousins, Porsha Turner; his nieces and nephews, Cyler, Canzada, Ayden, Daevion, Malani, Cornelio, Anala, Anthony, Andre and Atlas; his aunts and uncles, Morris Fuller, Joann Fuller, Larry Fuller (Elizabeth), Adolph Ryals (Paulette), Martha Fuller, Karen Fuller, Anthony Fuller (Patricia), Kenneth Fuller, DeWayne Fuller (Sherry), Greg Turner (Tiffany), Pearl Furr, Addie Robinson, Betty Turner and Pam Walker; his godmother, Faye Paschal and Dorothy Johnson, who was like a grandmother; his special friends, Mark Scott, Joshua Shaw, Rikeisha Rowe, Annie Brown, Shannan Sapp, Brad Springstead and Shanta Sledge, as well as, a host of other cousins and many sorrowing friends.

There will be a walk thru viewing on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 04, 2021 @ 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1580 Sunset Blvd, Jesup, Ga. Remains will be viewed one hour prior to services at the cemetery.

*Everyone planning to attend services are asked to wear masks and adhere to the social distancing guidelines set by the local health officials and the CDC.
