Obituary for Cornelia "Connie" Hamilton (Duisdeiker)

Cornelia Ybeltje Duisdeiker-Hamilton, 80, of Jacksonville, Fl., made her transition from earth to heaven on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at her residence in Orange Park, Fl., surrounded by her loving family. "Connie," as she was affectionately known by family and close friends, was born on February 21,1939, in Makkum, Netherlands, to the late, Saapke Rinia Poepjes and Marinus Duisdeiker. Connie was educated in the public school system in the Netherlands. She met and married Donevell Hamilton on August 4, 1967, while he was serving in the U. S. Army in Germany, and to this union, two children were born, Robert and Sharon.

Connie was employed many years in early childhood development and in logistics for McMillan Company. She was a very meticulous person, and was affectionately known for her sharp-wittedness and sense of humor. At an early age, Connie accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized as a Catholic. On September 15, 2019, Connie reconfirmed her faith in God and was baptized by and received the Holy Communion from Elder Terrance Pender. Connie loved to shop, especially with her shopaholic buddy, Betty, at the outlet malls in St, Augustine and Orlando. There was never a sale too far for them to check out. She enjoyed collecting antiques and loved to travel, visiting countries in Europe, Asia, and throughout the United States.Overall, Connie was a beautiful and classy lady who loved her husband and family unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Saapke Poepjes and Marinus Duisdeiker.

Connie will truly be missed by those who are left to cherish her lasting memories:her loving husband of 52 years, Donevell Hamilton, Jacksonville, Fl.; her son, Robert Hamilton, Jacksonville, Fl.; her daughter, Sharon Hamilton, Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, Corri and Xavier Hamilton, Kenny, Paradise and Gregory Davis, and Kienesha Jordan; four great grandchildren; her siblings: Hans Portma, Klaas en Jacoba Van Malsen, Pietje Poepjes Zoethout, Gepke Portma, Pieter en Gelfke Portma, Douwe en Ettje Poepjes, Geertje Portma, Petrus en Antje Portma, Marijke Portma, all from the Netherlands; her sisters in-law, Gertrude Belton, New Haven, Conn., Ruby (Henry Lawrence)Hannans, Folkston, Ga., and Mary Hamilton (Larry Livingston) of West Haven,Conn.; a special niece, Wilma Besselse; a special nephew, Terrance Pender; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that loved her dearly.
