Obituary for Darrell "Terry" Way Sr.
Mr. Darrell "TERRY" Way, Sr., was born on August 26. 1955 to the late, Walter Lee Way, and Rosa E. Bailey-Way in Fernandina, Fl. He was educated in the Ralph J. Bunch School System in Camden County. On June 3, 1976, Terry married the love of his life, the late, Catha Walker-Way whom he referred to as his "Lump of Sugar". "BUCKWHEAT", as he was affectionately known by family was employed with what was once Union Carbide and Bayer Crop Chemical Plant for 30 years and after his retirement, he later worked as a truck driver for several years for Werner Truck Lines. He was a member of The House of Prayer Church located in Woodbine, Ga. In his spare time Terry enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite times was spent taking the grands to the Monster Jam, which he loved just as much as they did.
Terry passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by both parents, Walter Lee Way and Rosa Way-Smith and his loving wife of (47) years, Catha Walker-Way.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted daughters, Sequoyia Way, Shamika Way, Salena Way (Phillip Rainge); his loving and devoted sons, Kipp Way (Kenya), Darrell Terry Way, Jr, Willie Hicks (Shirley), Michael Way; eighteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren; his sisters, Deborah Johnson (Bobby), Phyllis Dunham (Anthony), Fern Currin (Carl), Gloria Wesley (Ernest), Lafayne Brockington (Don) and Betty Ann Humphrey; his brothers, Walter Way (Vivian), Christopher Way (Angie), Earl Smith (Sheila), William Smith (Patricia); a loving bonus father, Wilbur Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his church family and friends who will miss him dearly.
There will NOT be a wake/visitation or viewing of the remains before, during or following services, per the family.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 2024 @ 11:00 AM AT GEORGIA AVENUE CHURCH OF GOD, 740 NORTH GEORGIA STREET, KINGSLAND, GEORGIA, 31548. INTERMENT IN WOODBINE CEMETERY, GEORGIA HWY 110, WOODBINE, GEORGIA
