Obituary for David Cooper Sr.

David E. Cooper, 65, of Ludowici, Ga. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 01, 2022 at Liberty Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 15, 1957 to the late, Earnest and Annie Bell Stevens Cooper in Wayne County, Ga. David was educated in the public school system of Long County and was a faithful member of St. Phillips Baptist Church where he served on the finance committee and as the custodian. His employment history includes that of working at Winn Army Hospital at Fort Stewart and many years at Long County Board of Education as a custodian before retiring. David enjoyed attending church, watching westerns, playing cards and he loved to dance. He was a loving and kind soul that never met a stranger. To know him, was to love him.

David was preceded in death by both parents, Earnest and Annie Bell Cooper; his wife, Darlene Walcott Cooper; two sisters, Larcenia Walthour and Rose Marie Harris; three brothers, Willie Lee, Lonnie Dale and James Edward Cooper.

Those left to cherish his memory: his only son, David E. Copper, Jr. (Evelyn), Newport Rickey, Fl.; two grandchildren, Kayla and Kevyn; a sister, Mary Hamilton, Ludowici, Ga.; one brother, Earnest (Gwen) Cooper, Jersey City, NJ; one uncle, Robert Robertson, Ludowici, Ga.; his sisters in-law, Mary Cooper, Jersey City, NJ, Lucille Walcott and Dora Walcott, both of Ludowici, Ga., Lois Powell, Savannah, Ga. and Ollie Mae Ferrell of Ridgeland, SC; his brothers in-law, Ronnie Walcott and Robert Lee Harris, both of Ludowici, Ga. and Peter Walthour of Midway, Ga.; a special cousin, Issac Glover; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him immensely.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 08, 2022, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine St., Jesup, Ga.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 09, 2022 @ 1:00 pm at St. Phillips Baptist Church, 11 Boundary Street, Ludowici, Ga. 31316 (Remains will lie in state one hour prior to services).
