Obituary for David King Sr.

David Louis King, Sr., was born on August 9,1955, to the late Janie Mamie Rose Lee-King, in Alma, Georgia. While living in Bacon County, David attended Bacon County High School, after which the family later moved to Jesup, GA. David would soon leave the State of Georgia and move further South to the State of Florida, where he would later meet and married the late Mildred Marie Mayes (d. 2019), and they are survived by their 3 kids: “His Jr” David Louis King, Jr; “The baby boy” Marcus Bernard King; “His Scoottah-Boot” Angela Marie (Ray) Lewis (formerly King). David was a hard worker and held various jobs in Landscaping and Construction for over 25 years while living in Florida. However, 3 of the greatest moments of his career in Construction, was being one of the Head Foreman’s for the demolition of the Amway Arena in 2012; the construction of the SkyHouse Apartments in 2013; and the reconstruction of the Citrus Bowl (now Camping World) in 2014. David has always been a huge sports fan. He loved the NFL, the NBA, and NASCAR. Jeff Gordan and Dale Earnhardt were his favorite NASCAR Drivers; Marcus Allen was his favorite NFL Player, and at one-point, Bernard King was his favorite NBA Player, until that is, “LEBRON JAMES.” David remained in Florida until 2018, when he moved to Jesup, Georgia, where he lived the remainder of his days surrounded by family and friends that loved and cared for him. David Louis King, Sr. passed on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, he was 65 years old.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Janie Mamie Rose Lee-King and two brothers, Wilford and Charlie King.

David also leaves to cherish his memories: 9 sisters, Elmira McCrae, Louise (Issac) Myers, Ruby Jean Taylor, Geneva Johnson, Kathy King, Regina King, Janie “Lou” (David) Pickett, and Jeanette (James) Brockett; 3 brothers, Willie Mabry, Walter King, and Joseph King; one uncle, Isaiah King; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine St., Jesup, Ga. 31545

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1570 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545
