David Pickett, 70, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 05, 1953, in Claxton, Ga. (Evans County) to the late, Albert and Gladys Irene Byrd-Pickett. David was educated in the Wayne County Training School and soon after he enlisted in the United States Army (1971). On June 25, 1979 he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Janie Lou King-Pickett. David was an active member of Altamaha Lodge 321 (Jesup Local) and he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was employed with the Wayne County Road Department for several years and worked in the community as a good handyman and a pretty good cook. David was a faithful member of St. John First Born Holiness Church and was dutiful wherever the help was needed until his health would no longer allow him. He never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. He was loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Janie M. King; his siblings, Eva Pearl Jones, Charles Pickett and James Pickett; his in-laws, Willie Mabry, David King, Wilford King and Charlie King.

Those left to mourn his passing: his loving, faithful and dedicated wife, Janie Lou King-Pickett; his sister, Doris (Henry) Bryant, his in-laws, Louise (Isaac) Meyers, Ruby Jean Taylor, Geneva Johnson, Jeannetta (James) Brockett, Walter King, Kathy Frazier, Joseph King and Regina Reddish; a special niece, loved as a daughter, Kimberly Bryant (her children, JaMaya and Dasia); a god daughter, Zykerria Lee (her children, Eil'lil, Ivan and Javan) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

There will be a viewing held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 @ 11:00 am at St. John First Born Holiness Church, 386 W. Poplar Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Interment in Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, Jesup, Ga.
