Obituary for Diana Brown (Gibbs)

Diana Gibbs Brown, 66, a resident of Hinesville, Ga. and native of Folkston, Ga. passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Liberty Regional Hospital in Hinesville, Ga. following a brief illness. She was born on November 8, 1955 to the late Otis and Pearlie Mae Gibbs in Charlton County, Ga. and received her education in the Charlton County Public School System. After graduating high school Diana made her way throughout the world living in several states, once living in Virginia, Fairbanks, Alaska, Waycross, Ga. and Jacksonville, Florida before settling down in Hinesville, Ga. Her last church affiliation was with Everlasting Kingdom of Love in Valdosta, Ga.

Diana's work history was that of a Civilian Trainer, DOD contractor at Fort Stewart Army Base, Kings Bay Naval Base in St. Marys, Ga. and with the Board of Education in Liberty County where she worked as a substitute teacher and a bus monitor. Her hobbies included decorating, arts and crafts and she loved singing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Otis and Pearlie Mae Gibbs; her grandparents, Joe and Ida Bell Brown; a sister, Mary Gibbs; two brothers, Willie Earl and Johnny Otis Gibbs, Jr.

Survivors include: her husband, Charlie L. Brown, II, Hinesville, Ga.; her two sons, John Gibbs, Ludowici, Ga. and Marcus L. Gibbs, Hinesville, Ga.; (7) grandchildren, JaVonte', Aaliyah, Jo'Suan, Ca'lani, Marcus, Jr., Elijah Malik and Mia; her sisters, Evangelist Darlene (Tony) Redmon, Loretta Leonard, Patricia McCloud and Shirley Gibbs, all of Hinesville, Ga.; her brothers, Larry Gibbs, Reidsville, Ga., Harry (Evangelist Sheila) Gibbs, Folkston, Ga. Arthur (Jacqueline) Gibbs, Hinesville, Ga. and Anthony (Tammy) Gibbs of Claxton, Ga.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

There will be an hour of viewing before services on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 417 Dixie Lake Road, Folkston, Ga. 31537 Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Memorial Cemetery, Folkston, Ga. following services. There will not be a repast following services.
