Obituary for Donald Sapp

Donald Sapp, 65, of Jesup, GA, transitioned on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital with his loved ones gathered outside to bid him farewell. Don, as he was known by family and friends, made his entrance into this world on August 11, 1956 in Jesup, Wayne County, Georgia. He was the youngest of six children, who was born to the late, Ronie and Linnie Pearl Moore-Sapp.

Don was a 1974 graduate of Wayne County High School. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army where he exited with a Honorable Discharge, afterwards, he joined the National Guard. Don later became a member of Eternal Harvest Holiness Church under the leadership of Rev. Walter Cuthbert, Sr. He later, became an affiliate of Greater Grace and Mercy Church, under the leadership of Pastor Mary Ellis, who was the pastor at that time.

Don was preceded in death by both of his parents, Ronie and Linnie P. Sapp; three brothers, Willie Bell, Otis Sapp and Ronnie Sapp, Jr.; his father-in-law, Leon Ellis; mother-in-law, Alberta Ellis; two brothers-in-law, Marvey L. Ellis and Leon "Patrick" Ellis.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife of 39 years, Kathy Ellis-Sapp; his children, Willis Ellis, Tiberius (Victoria) Ellis, Tanyieka Reddish and Jaquana Sapp, all of Jesup, GA, and Kayuana Sapp of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Anne (Robert) Bryant and Louise Sapp of Jesup, GA; 17 grandchildren, Demondre, Malachi, Makayla, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, Micah, Joshua, Matthew, Braden, Lily Anna, Josiah, Joshalynn, Jabari, Jerriah, Jenesis, Kayden and Jorryn; his mother-in-law, Overseer Mary Ellis; 6 sisters-in-law, Barbara Hill, Diane (Min. Dwight) Wallace, Leola Hunter, Sharon (Pastor Gerald) Ellis and April Ellis, all of Jesup, GA, and Belinda Ellis of Atlanta, GA; 3 brothers-in-law, Ray Charles Ellis of Jesup, GA, Lamar (Charlene) Ellis of Atlanta, GA, and Marvin (Beverly) Ellis of Hinesville, GA; a special friend, James Odom of Mobile, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1580 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.

Everyone planning to attend services are asked to wear their masks and adhere to the guidelines set by your local health officials and the CDC.
