Obituary for Dorsey Jackson

Dorsey Lee Jackson was born on October 3, 1959 to the late, Dan "Buster" and Bernice Macox-Jackson, Sr. in Wayne County, Ga. He was educated in the Wayne County School System and was employed with Thornton Stump Grinding. Dorsey Lee was well known for his ability to entertain his audience, whether it be singing, being a comedian or just being "real". Dorsey had a voice that should have been recorded. He will forever be remember for being a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. In his free time Dorsey enjoyed free style impromptu singing, dancing and cooking.

Dorsey Lee passed away on April 6, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by both parents, Dan, Sr. and Bernice Macox-Jackson; his daughter, Shyree Lowe; his sisters, Patricia Ann Jones and Artis Mobley and his brothers, Charlie Jackson, Sr., Dan Jackson, Jr., Thomas Lee, Willie Lee and David Eugene Jackson.

Those left to cherish his memory: his wife, Deitra Hicks-Jackson, Waycross, Ga.; his children, Octavia (Gene) Gordon, Waycross, Ga., Detrick Marcus, Jesup, Ga., Tyree Lowe, Alma, Ga., Salina Robinson and Norris Jackson, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; his three sisters, Louise (Anthony) Jenkins, Patterson, Ga., Betty Jean Jackson, Jesup, Ga. and Jewell (Bennie) Mitchell, Statesboro, Ga.; his sister in-law, Florence Jackson; special friends, Falonda Davis (Marvin) Cannon, Bobby Charles and Nicey Kehea, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 5-7pm.

A graveside will be held @ 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1570 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
