Obituary for Elizabeth Tisdale (Wright)

Elizabeth Wright Tisdale of Covington, Ga, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021. She was born December 27, 1929 in Blackshear, Georgia to the late, Deacon James Wright and Deaconess Mary Wright. Elizabeth was the second of fourteen children born to this union. Early in life she became a believer, accepting Christ as her lord and savior. She believed that there is a creator that she could call for direction and guidance, and for that she was truly thankful.

She was educated in Pierce, Wayne, and Telfair Counties. Following high school, she attended Edwards College and received an A. A. Degree. She then received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Education form Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Tallahassee, Florida. She completed her academic studies at Nova University.
Elizabeth Tisdale had a long and rewarding career, teaching in Nassau County Florida, from 1954 until her retirement in 1991. After moving form Screven, Georgia to Callahan, Florida, she joined Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the senior choir. She was a member of Bolden Chorale, Jacksonville, Florida. Later, she served as President of District 8, while she was a member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Shortly afterwards, her health began to fail. Her son then moved her and her late husband to live with his family in Covington, Georgia. She united with Springfield Baptist Church upon moving to Covington, Georgia in 2002. Her Civic Affiliations included the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kapp, Inc. Delta Delta Chapter, and Phi Honor Society in Education. Through this and other organizations, she volunteered, working with children in need while fulfilling the importance of service.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Coolidge Tisdale.

She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, her two sons, Harold Tisdale, Sr. (Denise) and Coolidge Tisdale, of Covington, GA; one daughter, Pamela Tisdale of Tallahassee, FL; seven grandchildren; Harold Tisdale, Jr. (Whitney), Brandon Tisdale, Myia Tucker, Noah Tisdale, Caleb Tisdale, Nyasha Tisdale, Bethaney Tisdale; one great grand-daughter; Ava Tisdale; six sisters, Elnora Edmondson, Jesup, GA; Lillie Lane, Durham NC, Jean Wright and Bobbie Wright, both of Brunswick, GA, Jacqueline Wright, Screven, GA, Chyrell (Robert) George, East Hampton, MA; three brothers, Charles (Oralee) Wright, Waycross, GA, Lawrence (Linda) Wright, New Castle, DE, Kelton Wright, Brunswick, GA; In-laws, Dorothy Wright, San Diego, CA, Linda Wright, Brunswick, GA, Lula Wright, Feeding Hill, MA, Wilhelmina (Joseph) James, Orange Park, FL; one aunt, Marjorie Manning, Jacksonville, FL; goddaughters, Brenda Ballard, Rozetta Pickens, Summa Wiley, Crystal Wiley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 04, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 05, 2021 @ 1:00 p.m. at Jesup City Cemetery, Project Street, Jesup, Ga. Remains will lie in state for viewing 1 hour at the cemetery prior to services. Services will be live streamed at the beginning of services thru our website: royalfuneralhomeinc.com
