Obituary for Emory "Bunchie" Green Jr.

Emory Green, Jr. "Bunchie" 74, a native of St. George, Ga. and resident of Kingsland, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, June 08, 2021 at Curahealth Jacksonville, Fl. He was born on May 15, 1947 to the late, Emory and Clara Branch-Green, Sr. in St. George, Ga. "Bunchie", as he was known by close family members and friends, was educated in the Bethune School System and graduated in the Class of 1964. He was known for being politically assertive and opinionated. He believed what he believed and no one could change his views. Emory enjoyed working hard and when he was not working he enjoyed watching the Atlanta Falcons and his favorite baseball player, Hank Aaron.

His work history consisted of his time spent as a soldier in the US Army from 1966 and receiving an honorable discharge in 1968. He was also employed as an Air Traffic Controller in Warner Robbins and finally worked as a U S Postmaster for 31 years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Emory, Sr. and Clara B. Green, his loving wife of 38 years, Equilla Austin-Green, his siblings, Catherine Green and Golfied Green, and his sister in-law, Carolyn Hannans-Green.

Those left to cherish his memory: his step mother, Lucille Green; his siblings, Eddie Green, St. George, Ga., Connie Green, Callahan, Fl., Melvin Green, Jacksonville, Fl., Wesley Green, Folkston, Ga., Freddie (Maritina) Green, Jacksonville, Fl., Ernest (Colestine) Green, MacClenny, Fl., Brenda (Raymond) Brown, Folkston, Ga., Perry (Stephanie) Green, Folkston, Ga. and Edward (Sherilonda) Green, Folkston, Ga.; his god daughter, Lisa Atwater, Folkston, Ga.; his close friends, Willie Haywood, Sarasota, Fl. and Michael Joseph of Norcross, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

There will not be a wake/visitation prior to services.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 @ 10:00 a.m. at Macedonia Cemetery in St. George, Ga. Remains will be viewed from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
