Obituary for Era Holmes (McGloun)
Era Mae Holmes, 97, a resident of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Saturday, September 04, 2021 at home with her loving family. She was born on November 20, 1923 in Dothan, Alabama. She was a mother, a wife, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, a great grandmother and a beautiful soul. A selfless woman of strength forced to sacrifice her own education to help raise 11 other siblings at a very young age, she never complained. Unfortunately, Era Mae never had any children of her own, but she took in and welcomed many babies in her lifetime and raised them as her very own. Her children included: Freddie Holmes, Carolyn Worsley, Kaamilya Clark and Latonia Anderson.
Era Mae also leaves behind her only remaining sister, Ms. Inez Jackson, four grandchildren, Shaquita Martin, Jahara Coleman, Shanika King and Linden Austin. Era leaves 12 great grandchildren, Ahmia Martin, Chloee Martin, Summer Martin, Elijah Allen, Sariyah Nicely, Nivea Martin, Ja'von Nicely, Kaa'Nya King, Ayanna Wallace, Lion Johnson, Kash Johnson, Linden Austin Jr. & Kaaya Paul. Era in conclusion, also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. Era Mae Holmes was the glue that held this family together, a bright light in times of darkness, a woman that gave her all and asked for nothing in return and she will forever be missed by those that loved her so dearly. Rest in Heaven Ms. Era Mae Holmes, knowing that your purpose in this life was truly fulfilled and your living was not in vain.
