Obituary for Evelena Scott
Evelena Scott (79) was born on June 10, 1944 in Wayne County, Ga. to the late, Allen Scott, Sr. and Johnnie Mae Scott. She was educated in the Wayne County Training School System and attended New Hope Freewill Baptist Church occasionally during her lifetime. Evelena was a mother and domestic worker. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was always a people person and never met a stranger.
Evelena was called home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2023 following a lengthy illness at Altamaha Healthcare Center in Jesup, Ga. She was preceded in death by both parents, Johnnie Mae and Allen Scott, Sr.; a son, Stevie Demetrius Scott; three brothers, Elijah "Jimmy" Scott, Allen "Sallite" Scott, Jr. and Earnest James "Creep" Scott; a sister, Sarah Victoria "Barbie" Scott-Sheffield; a niece who was like a daughter, Marilyn Jean Scott and a grandson, Jackie Guyton.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: three children, Jackie Eugene (Margie) Scott, Eric Dwayne Washington and Sharlet Cartress Scott, all of Jesup, Ga.; two brothers, Elder Frank Scott, Jesup, Ga. and Deacon Johnnie (Wanda) Scott, Bristol, Ga.; two close and dear nephews, Deacon Gary Scott, Jesup, Ga. and Ira (Bridgett) Cogdell, Rex, Ga. (Atlanta); a loving niece who was like a daughter, Angelique (Mitchell) Young, Covington, Ga. (Atlanta); a loving grandson, Miller Lashan (Scott) Jackson, Hinesville, Ga.; two dear granddaughters, Twana and Nina Smith, Jesup, Ga.; (17) great grandchildren; (6) great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 @ 11:00 a.m. at Jesup New Life Ministries, 512 Walker Street, Jesup, Ga. 31546. Interment in Sunset Oaks Memorial Garden. Repast immediately following interment at Jesup New Life Ministries Social Hall.
