Obituary for Gayle Davis (Melton)

Gayle J. Melton-Davis, 62, of Folkston, Ga., passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 1, 1958, to the late, Alonzo Franklin and Lilus M. Frazier-Melton, in Folkston, Ga. Gayle was educated in the public school system of Charlton County and was a life long member of Mt. New Home Baptist Church. She was the former wife of the late, Jackie Dasher, Sr., and to this union, three loving children were born, LaTracy, Jackie,Jr. and Allen. Gayle was later united in holy matrimony to Christopher Davis. She was a former employee of Stevenson Enterprises for several years before becoming a homemaker. Gayle enjoyed cooking and spending time caring for her family that she loved so dearly. Anyone that knew Gayle, knew that she was a true fighter and loved life to the fullest, but when God saw that she had grown weary of the troubles of this ole world, he called her home to be with him.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Alonzo and Lilus, and a brother, Felton Hannan.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and caring husband, Christopher Davis, Folkston, Ga.; her loving children, LaTracy (Sasson) Gilyard, Folkston, Ga., Jackie (LaTonya) Dasher, Jr., Atlanta, Ga., and Rev. Allen Dasher, Jacksonville, Fl.; her stepchildren, Christopher Davis, Jr. and DanTonio Davis, both of Jacksonville, Fl.; two grandchildren, JadQuay Dasher, Jacksonville, Fl. and Israel Gilyard, Folkston, Ga.; eight step grandchildren; her sisters, Lillie D. (Vice) Jordan and Irene (Rev. Willie) Duncan, both of Folkston, Ga., Mary J. Roberson, Atlanta, Ga., Elizabeth (Wayne) Webb, Wallington, NJ, Betty (Chris) Roberson, Savannah, Ga.; her brothers, Joseph (Wanda) Melton and David (Stephanie) Melton, both of Atlanta, Ga. Alonzo Melton, Jr. and Kent Edwards, Jacksonville, Fl.; her aunt, Ethleen Harvey, Folkston, Ga.; her uncle, Ivory (Deidra) Melton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.
