Obituary for Harold "Onion Dove" Dasher Sr.

Harold Vincent Dasher, 66, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on October 14, 2023 at Brooks Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville, Fl. surrounded by his loving wife and son. Harold also known by family and close friends as “ Onion Dove” was born on November 15, 1956 to the late, Marcus and Virginia Rooks Dasher, Sr. in Jesup, Ga. Harold received his education in the Wayne County School System and graduated in 1974. He attended Georgia Southern State University for two years earning his welding credentials. He was employed with Rayonier for 33 years before retiring. He worked in the woodyard, the finishing room and the lab. Harold was a member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and had even begun to grow his very own orange and tangerine trees in his backyard. Harold enjoyed sitting on his front porch talking with friends and family. He loved watching westerns, listening to music and don’t forget his dog “Girly” that he adored.

Harold was preceded in death by both parents, Marcus and Virginia Rooks Dasher, Sr. and his two brothers, Marcus Dasher, Jr. and Dave L. Dasher.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of (43) years, Nettie B. Dasher, Jesup, Ga.; his loving son, Harold Dasher, Jr., Jacksonville, Fl., two sisters, Mary Dasher, Washington, DC and Laressia Dasher of Jesup, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jaden Weatherspoon, Harold Dasher, III and Cassie Dasher of Jesup, Ga.; two great grandchildren, Ava Olivia Weatherspoon and Kayden Weatherspoon of Jesup, Ga.; a sister in- law and great friend, Juanita Houston, Jesup, Ga.; his godchildren, Romen and Deaundrea Williams of Jesup, Ga., as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

There will be a viewing on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 5-7 pm.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Jesup City Cemetery @ 11:00 am
