Obituary for Icia Jones (Riley)

Mrs. Icia Pearl Jones was born on December 12,1951 to the late, Ms. Grace Riley and Mack Cooper in Homerville, Georgia. She departed this life on her 72nd birthday, December 12, 2023.

Mrs. Icia Pearl Jones attended Northside High School where she was a member of their track and field and basketball team. She was well known for her basketball skills and recognized as Northside High fastest female track star. She later worked for the Wayne County Board of Education as a dietician where she initially retired after 25 years of service.

Mrs. Pearl was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Mr. Robert Lee Jones in 1984. They were married for over 20 years before his departure. Mrs. Pearl was also a loyal member of the Greater Morris Chapel Baptist Church where she served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee, Women’s Ministry, Missions Ministry, and Kitchen Committee.

Mrs. Pearl was well known for her cooking abilities (especially her famous potato salad). She absolutely loved to fish, and she loved spending time with her family. She loved her family dearly.

Mrs. Pearl was proceeded in death by her late husband, Mr. Robert Lee Jones, her mother, Ms. Grace Riley, her father, Mr. Mack Cooper, two brothers, Henderson Cooper and Macky Riley, Jr, and one stepdaughter, Melinda Jones.

Those left to cherish Mrs. Pearl’s memories include one daughter, Rosa Myers of Yulee, Florida; one son, Joey Jones; three brothers, Ben Riley Cooper (Roberta), Johnny Armstrong of St. Pete, Florida, and Johnathan Cooper of Homerville, Georgia. She also leaves behind four sisters, Rose Carr, Juanita Wilson (Jerome), Diane Paisley (Ricky), and Jaqueline Cooper of Homerville, Georgia; Mrs. Pearl has five grandchildren, Timirah Fullmore of Albany, Georgia, Joscalyn Fullmore of Yulee, Florida, Patrick Rogers Delegal, Eisha Rogers, and Brenadia Vail, and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.

There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 @ 11:00 a.m. at Greater Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 362 N. Third Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Interment in Odum City Cemetery, 751 Tillman Street, Odum, Ga. 31555.

Repast will be held at Greater Morris Missionary Baptist Church.
