Obituary for Izora Tyler (Gross)

Izora Gross-Tyler, 96, a resident of Jesup, Ga. and native of Washington, DC, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 peacefully at her residence. She was born on February 09, 1926 in Washington, DC to the late, Charles and Ida Byrd-Gross. She was educated in the Washington, DC School District. She was employed as a residence manager for many years while she lived in Washington. Later, in life, Izora relocated to Georgia to live with her granddaughter Linda, who was her caretaker for many years until her demise. She was happiest when she was singing and dancing, Izora had a free spirit and loved life and laughter.

Izora was preceded in death by both parents, Charles and Ida Gross; her two sons, Paul and Calvin Tyler and a grandson, Calvin Tyler, Jr.

Survivors include: her two daughters, Sheila Whitehead, Washington, DC and Daisey Tyler of Amite, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Linda (Anthony) Brown, Jesup, Ga., Jerry (Lisa) Owens, Woodford, Va., Roslyn (Johnathan) Kenney, Fredricksburg, Va., Lonnie (Terrell) Green, Louisiana and Monica Tyler, Washington, DC; as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who will miss her dearly.

A possible date of memorial services will be announced at a later time.
