Obituary for James "Rock" Cuthbert

James “Rock” Leroy Cuthbert was born on September 22nd, 1953, to the late, Patsy James Cuthbert of Liberty County and the late, Walter Henry Cuthbert Sr. of Bryan County. He was educated in Wayne County Public School System and was a member of Eternal Harvest Holiness Church. James was employed at I.T.T. Rayonier for many years. He loved cars, fishing, football, baseball, watching westerns, music, and visiting with family and friends.

James transitioned on Saturday September 18th, 2021, after battling a terminal illness. James was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Horace Cuthbert, and Walter “Tubby” Cuthbert Jr.

Left to cherish his memory: his wife, Lula Cuthbert of Jesup, Ga., who lovingly cared for him until the end; a son, Leroy Cuthbert, Jesup, Ga.; four daughters, Lashandra Cuthbert, Atlanta, Ga., Kendra Cuthbert, Ludowici, Ga., Adrian Cuthbert, Hinesville, Ga. and Lutecia Cuthbert, Hinesville, Ga.; five grandchildren, Keylon, Kaleel, Reggie III, Kalayjah and Ryan; two sisters, Patsy Zellner (Terry), Atlanta, Ga. and Coral Aletha Robinson (Claude-deceased), Jesup, Ga.; one uncle, Nelson Johnson, Jesup, Ga. and two aunts, Naomi Doris Brown and Maggie Sumpter of Liberty County; four nieces, Vicky Williams, Teri Zellner, Alethia Robinson and Corshae Robinson; three nephews, Tyrone Stephens, Jarvis Reddish and Patrick Zellner, and a host of cousins and friends.


* There will NOT be a wake/visitation.

Graveside Celebration-of-Life services will be held at Jesup City Cemetery on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. There will Not be a viewing at the cemetery prior to services.

Everyone planning to attend services are asked to wear your masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines set by the local health authorities and the CDC.
