Obituary for James "Papa Juice" Johnson Sr.

James Johnson, Sr., aka "Papa Juice", 79, of Kingsland, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Southeast Georgia Healthcare System in Camden County, Ga. He was born on August 6, 1940, to the late, Jack Johnson, Sr. and Nora Frazier-Johnson, in Kingsland, Ga. "Papa Juice", as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was educated in Ralph J. Bunch High School and was a life long member of First African Baptist Church in Kingsland, Ga. He was a former employee of Thiokol Chemical Corporation and a 39 year retiree of Gilman Paper Company. "Juice," as he was referred to many times, was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys Football Team and enjoyed fishing, crabbing,and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Jack and Nora Johnson, Sr., his daughter, Pamela Johnson and three brothers, Stanley Johnson, Ernest Frazier and Jack Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Ward-Johnson, Kingsland, Ga.; four daughters, Sonya Smith, Kingsland, Ga., Arlene (Edward) Christian, Riverview, Fl., Cynthia Ward, Cincinnati, Ohio, Sabena (Andre) Carter, Austin, Texas; three sons, Tony (Cheryl) Glover, Folkston, Ga., James (Rosa) Johnson, Jr., Darien, Ga. and Michael Johnson, Kingsland, Ga.; three sisters, Queen Esther Williams, Kingsland, Ga., Mary (James) Campbell, Kingsland, Ga., and Louise Johnson, Kingsland, Ga.; one brother, Simon (Verdell) Johnson, Kingsland, Ga.; close friends, Alex Hopkins and Vandell Dasher; a goddaughter, Ruby Pearson, Jacksonville, Fl.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, that will miss him dearly.
