Obituary for James Pickett Sr.

Mr. James Pickett Sr. was born in Reidsville, Georgia to the late, Mr. Albert Pickett and Mrs. Gladys (Byrd) Pickett on February 12,1950. He and his four siblings attended the Reidsville Public School System. At a very young age, James moved to Jesup, GA.

James joined the United States Navy, where he faithfully and honorably served his country. He received awards, decorations, medals, achievements, and honors for his outstanding service.

After serving in the United States Navy, he moved to Jacksonville, FL. There, he worked for the Jacksonville Electric Authority for ten years. Afterward, James worked as a Security Guard for Grady’s Security Company for many years, and then as a Mechanic for Tim’s Tech Master Garage.

James attended Titus Harvest Dome in Jacksonville, FL., where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

James loved fishing, working on cars, playing checkers, being a handyman, and riding motorcycles. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. His favorite song was “Too Close to the Mirror” by Eddie Ruth Bradford.

Mr. James Pickett passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Albert Pickett, mother, Mrs. Gladys (Byrd) Pickett, a sister, Mrs. Eva Pearl Jones, and a brother, Mr. Charles Pickett.

He is survived by his 3 Children: Ms. Jamie L. Pickett- resides in Jesup, GA, Mr. James Pickett Jr., and Ms. Tara M. Pickett; two Siblings, Mrs. Doris (Henry) Bryant and Mr. David (Janie Lou) Pickett, both reside in Jesup, GA; 3 Grandchildren, Kayanne Pickett, J’MaleAustin, and Sharika Austin, all residing in Jacksonville, FL. James had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who will miss him dearly .



There will be a inurnment in the Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Glennville, Ga., to be announced at a later date.
