Obituary for Janice Marcus (Ross)
Janice Deloris Ross Marcus, 78, of Jesup, GA, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, GA, following a short illness. Janice was born in Jesup, GA, on June 16, 1943, to the late William Ross & Lila Mae Dowdy. She was raised in Gloversville, NY, and graduated from Gloversville High School. She attended Savannah Technical College for Early Childhood Education later in life.
Janice was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, where Bishop Eddie T. Ball is the Pastor. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Wayne County Head Start for 27 years. She was a member of the Eastern Stars for 21 years. Janice volunteered at Tabitha’s Place, where she helped feed the hungry in Jesup for many years. She also sang with the Wayne County Female Chorus. Janice loved fishing, singing, and caring for everyone’s kids.
Janice was preceded in death by both parents, William Ross & Lila Mae Dowdy, 1 son, Demetrice Bell, brother, Jerrold Dowdy, and husband, Joseph Bennett Marcus.
Janice was followed in death by 1 son, Elder Dale Bell, of Jesup, GA, who passed away three days later on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
Janice leaves to cherish her memories, 1 son, Vincent Ross, of Jacksonville, FL; 2 daughters, April (Jimmy) Bacon, and LaTeah Janae Marcus, all of Brunswick, GA; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A dual visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 for Janice Marcus and her son, Dale Bell at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, 401 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 5-7 pm.
A dual funeral service will be held for the mother, Janice Marcus and her son, Dale Bell on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, 401 West Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. @ 2:00 pm
Interment will be at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery.
