Obituary for Janie Tate (Pollock)

Mrs. Janie L. Pollock Tate began her path in this life on November 7, 1937 in Folkston, Georgia. She was called to home on November 20, 2021 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Janie was the loving daughter of the late, Mr. Elijah and Pearl Pollock. Janie was educated in the Charlton County Public School System. After graduating from Mary McCleod Bethune, she moved to New York, where she began her career with the New York City Transit Authority. She retired after 20 plus years of service. Upon retiring, she moved to Laurinburg, North Carolina. Janie was married to the late, Mr. Percival (Percy) Tate. She is preceded in death by both parents, Elijah "Buck" and Pearl Goodman Pollock, Sr., her sisters, Lillian Redmon, Betty Thompson, Margaret Tomlinson, and her brothers, Elijah Pollock, Jr., Eugene Frazier, and Clarence Pollock.

Janie leaves to cherish her fond memories: her personal caregivers, Sharon D. Pollock and Carrie Anderson; her nephew, Pastor Ronnie Pollock; her niece, Gwendolyn Pollock-Wescott; her close friend, Essie Mae Sims; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, her Jehovah's Witness family and friends from Laurinburg, North Carolina, and loved ones.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 @ 11:00 am in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Folkston, Ga. Remains will be viewed one hour prior to services at the cemetery.
