Obituary for Jessie Redmon

Jessie L. Redmon, 79, of Folkston, Ga. passed away on June 13, 2023 (approximately one week of his 80th birthday) following an extended illness. He was born on June 19, 1943 to the late George Redmon and Janliyan Thomas-Redmon in Traders Hill, Ga. (Charlton County). Jessie was educated in the Bethune School System and was employed as a Logging Specialist with Redmon Logging and Taylor Timber for a combined sixty plus years, retiring when his health began to fail. He really enjoyed fishing, handy man carpentry and spending time with family and friends when he wasn’t working. Logging was his life.

Jessie was a lifelong member of Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church where he once served on the usher board. He was a friendly man that never met a stranger, nor did he mince words when he wanted to express himself.

He was preceded in death by both parents, George and Janliyan Redmon, his son, Michael Blackshear; his siblings, Joseph Redmon, Bobby Redmon and Margarette Redmon; his father in-law, James Reed; his sisters in-law, Ester Walker, Janie Reed and Mary Burton; his brother in- law, Lindsey Reed.

Those left to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Barbara Reed-Redmon, his children, Michelle (Pastor Norris) Woods, Lisa Redmon, his step son, Derik Clayton; his sisters, Lillie P. Redmon and Debra J. Redmon; his brothers, Vandell (Freddie) Redmon, Sr., Nathaniel (Shirley) Redmon, Carroll (Lina) Redmon, Tony (Darlene) Redmon, Michael (Tera) Redmon; his mother in-law, Mother Marie Reed-Brunswick; his sisters in-law, Geneva Lee, Linda (Johnny) Moore, Gloria ( Dwayne) Everett, Marion Lynn Reed and Ruby (Lonnie) Johnson; his brother in-law, James (Florrie) Reed, Jr.; (14) grandchildren; (36) great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
