John Wesley Shellman, Sr., 69, of Jacksonville, Fl. passed away on July 27, 2022 at Community Hospice Douglas Center in Jacksonville, Fl. following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 29, 1953 to the late, Wilfred Shellman, Sr. and Mary Leaks-Shellman in Princeton, Fl. (Miami Dade). He was educated in the Charlton County School System and worked as a logger for many years, as a self employed contractor. John was the husband to Rebecca Honester-Shellman and a father of three children and had spent many years in the Miami Dade County area.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Wilfred and Mary Shellman, his brothers, Michael, Dennis, Wilford, Jr. and another brother, born premature, Michael; four sisters, Rose Mary, Rose, Elaine Carol and Cynthia S. Jacobs; his mother and father in-law, Jean and Charlie Honester; three grandchildren, Tamiya, Taniya and James Honester; his sisters in-law, Vivian Maxwell and Jeanette Green.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Rebecca Honester-Shellman; his children, Priscilla Walker, John Shellman, Jr. and Tamichael (Carla) Shellman, Sr.; three sisters, Lurecia (Thomas) Smiley, Brenda Shellman and Jacqueline Shellman; two brothers, Alexander and Anthony Shellman; sisters in-law, Charlette (Willie) Jones, Yvette Clayton, Elizabeth "Sandy" Lee and Verdie Shellman; brothers in-law, Larry (Eline) Honester, Rickey (Joan) Honester and Jimmie Honester; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; his close friends, Chris Nat, Jackie Robinson and Jerome Dasher; and a host of cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Mt. Carmel Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Cemetery Rd., Folkston, Ga. 31537 @ 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the cemetery from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m.
