Obituary for L. C. Murphy

L.C. Murphy, 82, of Folkston, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, March 09, 2021 at Folkston Park Care and Rehabilitation. He was born on August 01, 1938 to the late, Charlie and Icylean Hannans-Murphy, Sr., in Folkston, Ga. L.C. was educated in the public schools of Charlton County and spent most of his life working in the logging industry with Roy Taylor Logging Company, being his last employer. Other than working, L.C. enjoyed fishing in his free time.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Charlie and Iceylean Murphy,Sr.; his siblings, Nathaniel, Alma, Ernestine, Jimmy, Minnie, Margaret, Victoria, Thelma, Thomas, James and Laura.

Those left to cherish his memory: his four children, Angela Reed, Valdosta, Ga., Gloria Davis, St. Marys, Ga., Christopher Shellman, Folkston, Ga. and Iceline Braxton of Folkston, Ga.; his grandchildren, Marvin, Ashley, Shakevia, Charles, CJ, Ziā€™Mari and Shamelia (Jerome); a host of great grandchildren; the last of his living sibling, his sister, Jacqueline Gilyard, Folkston, Ga.; his aunt, Lucille Hannans, Folkston, Ga.; his uncles, Joe Hannans, Folkston, Ga., James (Pamela) Hannans, Eastman, Ga. and Larry (Barbara) Hannans of Waycross, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be a memorial service held on Sunday, March 14, 2021 @ 1:00 p.m., following regular church services at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 116 6th Street, Folkston, Ga. 31537. Services will be held outdoors on the lawn of the church.

Everyone planning to attend services are asked to wear your mask and acknowledge the 6ft. social distancing guidelines set to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
