Obituary for LaKisha Vail
Lakisha Nicole Vail was born on July 18, 1980 in Brunswick, Ga. to John and Ellen Vail. She attended Screven Elementary School in Screven, Ga. then moved to Augusta, Ga. where she was blessed to live with her second set of parents who loved her dearly, Albert and Bennie Mae Sims. She attended Richmond County Middle School and George P. Butler High School. Lakisha then attended Paine College where she sang in the chorus. At an early age she became a member of First AB Church where she served faithfully in Sunday School, Youth Department and sang in the choir. While living in Augusta, she became a member of Green Grove Baptist Church working with the youth department and singing in three different choirs. In her later years, she worked for Walmart for 21 years and also for KFC.
Kisha passed away on Tuesday September 26, 2023 at Southeast Georgia Health Center in Brunswick, Ga. after a short illness.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her beloved parents, John Vail, Sr. and Ellen Vail of Screven, Ga.; her second set of parents, Albert and Bennie Mae Sims of Augusta, Ga.; a brother, John Vail, Jr. of Jesup, Ga.; three sisters, Jebreia Vail of Screven, Ga., Shanicka Vail House (Chris) of Hampton, Va., Brandy Sims of Augusta, Ga.; a god daughter that she loved so dearly, Iyanna Williams of Jacksonville, Fl.; four best friends that she adored, Rosalind Russell-Curry and Beverly Jones, both of Jesup, Ga., Kristi Crawford of Brunswick, Ga., Vanessa Shuman Jones of Savannah, Ga.; three aunts, Barbara (Lorenzo) Bennett and Linda Clark, both of Jesup, Ga. Patricia (Samuel) Walthour of Screven, Ga.; four uncles, James (Janice) Vail of Patterson, Ga., Lindsay (Catherine) Vail of Waycross , Ga., Alden Jones of Screven, Ga., Anthony Hamm of Miami, Fl.; one great aunt, Helen Vail Williams of Jesup, Ga.; two great uncles, Danny Fussell of Screven, Ga. and Larry Fussell of Jesup, Ga.; two special cousins, Shondra Brooks of Clarksville ,TN. and Asha Rawls of Jesup, Ga. and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 5-7 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at New Bethel Life Changing Ministries, 521 Brown Street, Screven, Ga.31560.
Interment in Screven Cemetery.
