Obituary

IN LOVING MEMORY

Lalonee D. Gibbs (affectionately known as "Lon"), passed away peacefully on, Tuesday, April, 21 2020, at Baptist Hospital. He was born November, 12 1974, to the parents of Lynda L. (Gibbs) Thompson and James Mack.

He was an instant and constant friend to anyone that came his way, and a carefree kind-hearted person. He was a great man who was loved and revered by many, no matter where life took him. Always greeting you with a smile on his face. He had the uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

The graveside services will be held on, Saturday, April 25th, at 11 a.m., at the Woodbine Cemetery.

*There will ABSOLUTELY be NO viewing of the remains at the Graveside Service. Walter Alan Scott

My name is Walter Alan Scott and I met Lon shortly after relocating to Jacksonville, Fl. in 2010. Our spirits connected almost immediately and he was a good friend. I recall when he informed me that he was moving to the Big Apple, and he often invited me to come along on some of his rides. I was always working and never able to take him up on spending that time with him, to continue our bond as friends. I too moved from Jax too a few years later.

I learned about his passing on Facebook and was in shock and instant mourning. I cried like a little baby, screaming out "OMG, Not Him!". This event in time has allowed me to re-evaluate my life, and how I not only spend my time but with who and how I will treat people going forward. I don't think there was anyone Lon did not connect with, because he was able to see only the good in people. Their natural light and would give an encouraging word to help them see it too.

Life is short. And I know there is no way to go back in time. Yet, I can work towards making my tomorrows better. A good man was laid to rest and I will forever miss his soul. So I will not say goodbye, but until we meet again. Rest Well, Lon.

Earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal. From the first time that we meet it was like we knew each other forever. You had that kind of spirit about you that people couldn’t help but love. You brought so much joy and laughter into my life and we both were able to let our hair down around each other and just be free to be ourselves. To say I’m going to miss you is an understatement. This is really a hard pillow to swallow but I know that God is to wise to make a mistake and even though it hurts it was all his plan. You put up a good fight and you have now earned your crown. Sleep now honey and take your rest .

Praying that God will give the family the strength and understanding to get through this

To the Family and Everyone that had the privilege of Knowing LALONEE Gibbs: I hope and pray that the Family will be given the comfort from God as 2 Corinthians 1:2-4 brings out. Ms Linda you did a great Job Raising that young man, he talked about you so much to me. He loved his family so very much. He loved Driving for Greyhound, Lalonee was just a 1 in A Million type of Person. He always brought humor and good conversation and many experiences as if he had lived 100 years on earth. He was caring, and had Strong People Skills. He could handle himself under any situation. Though I’am retired he has always kept in touch with me. I loved his time when he would come to visit, he kept me laughing at some of the things he would talk about. With the Hearts he has touched we all can take away some good from our dear friend Lalonee . I know that when God created the earth, and humans , he wanted us to be here forever, according to Genesis 1:28. We know our first parents didn’t remain Obedient so that’s why we experience what Romans 5:12 says. Saying that, I look forward to seeing My dear friend again as John 5:28,29, says. I loved Lalonee like a son, I know we all will miss him beyond words. He will be in our thoughts, conversations, our Memories forever. My prayers for the family, and everyone that have loss this so Loved person Lalonee Gibbs.

Madea......as I used to call you because you could talk like her, act like her and you just loved Madea, this is your Ella as you used to holler out to me when ever you saw me at any terminal. You could always make me smile or laugh even when I was troubled. The world is a less happier place without you in it but Heaven sure has the best angel they could ever have. I will always remember our laughs and our talks and that smiling face of yours and how you always teased me about giving me your car! You were and are the best! I'm going to miss you very much as I already do. Sleep in sweet Heavenly peace my friend. Your schedule is now complete.
To the family: I pray that God wraps his loving arms around you all and helps to strengthen you all in this your time of sorrow. Your angel will always be with you. He is healthy now, no longer suffering and will forever watch you all.

With love and deepest sympathy
