Obituary for Larry Walker

Larry E. Walker, 71, a native of Jesup, Ga. passed away on February 24. 2023 at St. Marys Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, Ga. He was born on August 9, 1951 to the late, Clyde Byrd and Janie Walker Newbold in Jesup, Ga. Larry was reared by his great aunt and uncle, Annie Mae, affectionately known as "Ma' Mae" Reddish and Willie Reddish. Larry was educated and graduated from Northside High School in 1968. He grew up attending Free Will Baptist Church as a child. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for three years. Larry's hobbies included writing, singing and telling awesome stories that would captivate you and kept you laughing. He was a great person and was always willing to help anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Byrd; his mother and step father, Janie and Edward Newbold; his great aunt and uncle that reared him, Annie Mae and Willie Reddish and his wife, Dorothy Overstreet Walker.

Those left to cherish his memories: his children, Detell and Laarian Walker; a nephew that he raised as his own, Ja'Quaveon Attical; five sisters, Deborah Latson, Cynthia Tucker, Madline Lassiter, Thelma Newbold and Pauline Williams; (8) grandchildren, SonTwanie' Walker, SonTrea' Walker, SonTarian Walker, RayShawn Ideen, Saiveon Walker, La'Arian Walker, Demilliano Andres and Shaneras Maske; (1) great grandchild, Daydrian Ideen; his aunts, Barbara Jean (Joe) Davis, Lara Bell Walker and JoAnn Miller; his uncles, Luthur (Doretha) Walker and Herman Walker; two godchildren, Devin Fabian and Gelana Pittman; a special friend, Larry Jackson; a dedicated niece, Angela Latson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him immensely.

There will not be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to chapel services.

A chapel service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 @ 12:00 noon at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545. A viewing will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service.

Interment in Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1570 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545 with Military Honors.
