Obituary for Letha Smith (Mills)

Letha Mae Mills-Smith, 90, of Folkston, Ga. passed away on January 14, 2021 at her residence, following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 13, 1930 to the late, Willie and Annie Bell Mills in Oconee, Ga. Letha only received her primary education, however, she began working at an early age and those jobs included seasonal work in Delaware and Miami and as a cook, at what was then, at Richcliff Restaurant. Letha Mae was a member of Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

Letha Mae was preceded in death by both parents, Willie and Annie Bell Mills; her husband, Clarence Smith, Sr.; children, Clarence Smith, Jr., Mattie Lee Smith, Angela Lafayne Harvey, Rufus Lee Smith, Jr. and Charles Smith; her siblings, Idabell Sharp, Christine Bailey, Nathaniel Morris, Robert Lee Mills and Otto Mills.

Those left to cherish her memory: her children, John Earl Mills (Miami, FL), Mazell Richardson (Marietta, GA), Patrick Lee Smith, Debra Smith, Toni Harvey, Dannie Mae Harvey and Tosia Harvey, all of Folkston, GA; her last surviving sibling, Willie Lee Morris Sr., Tampa, FL; and a host of grandchildren, great grands, great great grands, nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Mt Carmel Cemetery, Folkston, Ga.

Everyone planning to attend services are expected to wear their masks and observe the six ft. social distancing guidelines set to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
