Obituary for Lillie McGill (Gandy)

Lillie Mae Gandy McGill, 91, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 07, 1930 to the late, Charlie and Albenie Gray-Gandy in Waynesboro, Mississippi where she received her primary education. Years later, Ms. Lillie Mae relocated to Georgia in 1954 and settled down to raise her family. She was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. She was a former employee of the Manhattan Shirt Company, but spent most of her life as a homemaker and caring for her grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving and sweet lady to all that knew her and if there was anything that she could do for you, she did. Lillie Mae was the last surviving child of her parents.

Ms. Lillie Mae was preceded in death by both parents, Charlie and Albenie Gandy; her husband, Eldren McGill; her children, Essie McGill, Eldren McGill, John McGill, Buddy Ray McGill, Jerry McGill and Antonio Atkins; her siblings, Annie Hayes, Armatha Bonner, Allie B. "Kitty" Powe, Obra Gandy, Robert Gandy, Coley Gandy, Dorothy Evans and Annie Reed.

She is survived by her loving children, Lena M. West, Jesup, Ga., Jimmy McGill (Patricia), Jesup, Ga., Terry McGill (Lawanna), Brunswick, Ga. and Elmer McGill, Jesup, Ga., her caregivers, Jerry Weatherspoon McGill and Ross Lien, both of Jesup, Ga.; her daughters in-law, Queen Ester McGill, Winnfield, LA., Ruthie McGill and Carolyn McGill, both of Jesup, Ga.; (27) grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 04, 2022, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W, Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 05, 2022, @ 11:00 a.m. at Smith Grove Baptist Church, 450 Martin Luther King Dr., Jesup, GA 31546, Interment in Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1580 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545
