Obituary for Lillie Williams (Gamble)

Lillie Bell Gamble-Williams, 88, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on November 21, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Catherine, Alabama to the late, James Gamble, Sr. and Corine Baldwin-Gamble. Lillie Bell received her education from Marengo County Training School from which she graduated. She, like her siblings accepted Christ at an early age and was at her time of death a dutiful member at Morris Chapel Church under the leadership of Pastor Darren Moore. She will be sorely missed by her church family because of her faithfulness. She served as the Church Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent, Missionary, Mother of the church, Church Treasurer, Choir Member, Deaconess and the Church Secretary.

Lillie Bell was employed with Wayne Sportswear for many years but was perfectly suited for her role as a homemaker and caretaker. Her memory will forever be etched in their minds. By all accounts, she was the best cook when it came to her homemade biscuits and those pear preserves, salmon patties…… everything she cooked was delicious.

She was preceded in death by both parents, James and Corine Gamble, the love of her life, Jim Henry Clark, her sisters, Corean Mosley and Elvira “Patty”. Brown; her brothers, J. D. Frank, John and Lewis Gamble; her two grandchildren, Juwuan and Desiree Williams.

Those left to cherish her memory: three daughters, Selinda Williams and Gladys “Renee” (Reginald) Lee, both of Jesup, Ga. and Betty Jean (Clifford) Dennard of Cairo, Ga.; three sons, Curtis L. Williams, Melvin (Gale) Williams and Clarence “Tom” Williams, all of Jesup, Ga.; three sisters, Annie Grace Randolph, Jesup, Ga., Rachael Gamble, Jamaica Queens, NY and Sadie (Elzie) Coleman of California; one brother, James Gamble, Jr. of New York; her grandchildren, Tina (Jerry) Bryant, Tyrone (Dalain) Williams, Alvin Williams, Amy Williams, Jonathan Williams, Wade Williams, Ward Williams, Kristy Dennard, Christopher Dennard, Demarie Williams, Taylor Lee, Perris (Raven) Lee, Reginald “Eric” Lee, Jr., Isaiah Lee , Clotide Williams, LaShun Williams, Valerie ( Delvin) McMillan, Manuel (Roshanda) Williams, Yolanda Williams, Michael (Elisabeth) Williams, Leon Williams, Natasha Williams, Tiesha Williams, Lakeisha (Charles) Johnson, Zachariah Williams, LaTefa Williams, Janay Marks and Cameron Williams; her great grandchildren, Delvin McMillan, Jr., Harmony, Lyric, Arie, Joshua, Aliza, Sloane, Jamarion, Devonta, Kadance, Ethan, Kennedy and Kaleb Williams, Micah and Harper Johnson, Jaeden Fuller, LaShauna Moreland, Talaysia Fullmore, Shane Bryant, Tamara Andrews, Jacie Powell and Christopher “C.J.” Dennard as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will surely miss her.
