Obituary for Madeline "Mattie" Way (Lambert)

Mrs. Madeline Lambert Way departed this earthly life on Monday, January 31, 2022. She was born on July 17, 1923 in Woodbine, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late, Ocie and Marie Lockley. She was the wife of Curtis Way, who preceded her in death. She was the mother of 12 children two of whom preceded her in death, Harry Way and John Way.

Mrs. Way (“Mattie”), who was also known as “Granny” and “Gramps”. She was an affectionate mother, sister, mother-In-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had pride and enjoyment her flowers and raking the yard. She especially enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Way was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Curtis Way; two sons, Harry Way and John Way; her sister, Annie Jacobs; brother, Frank Lockley; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Lockley.

Mrs. Way is survived by her children, James Lockley of Oklahoma City, OK, Lewis Way of Kingsland, GA, Deacon Kenneth (Loritha) Way of Fernandina Beach, FL, Ulysses (Marlene) Way of Kingsland, GA, Sandra (Rev. Derry Mainor) of Woodbine, GA, Clifford Way of Kingsland, GA, Thelma (Joe) Brown of Kingsland GA, Evangelist Annette Stanley of Jacksonville, FL, Larry (Deloris) Way of Atlanta, Lucinda (Barry) Hamilton of Brunswick, GA.

Mrs. Way also leaves to cherish her memories two very loving sisters, Ocie (Willie) Armstrong of Jacksonville, FL and Essie (Albert) Armstrong of Lauderhill, FL; two daughters-in-law, Ella Way and Geraldine Way; one sister in-law, Odessa Lockley. nieces, Maria Lockley, Brenda Brock, and Maggie Jamieson; nephews, Albert Armstrong, Jr. and Michelle Armstrong; cousin, Sis. Pearlie Edward; one god child, Verlene King; 46 grandchildren, 82 great -grandchildren and 38 great-great grandchildren; adopted children, Rev. Leon (Katherine), (Jason) Washington and David Sharps; a devoted ex-daughter-in-law, Sandra Way Craig; special friends, Minister Ada Bryant (Deacon Joe Bryant), Minister Albert (Nina) Fairly, Minister Jaunce (Jannie) Wilson, Deacon Frank (Beverly) Watts, Deacon Melton (Betty)Robinson, Cheryl Flowers, Osborne (Aileen) Williams, Jodie Poole, Brenda Hicks, Tonya Baily, Margaret Flowers and Yvette Burch; a very special friend, Deloris Sullivan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

A walk thru viewing for the public will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, Ga.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 @ 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, aka Kinlaw Cemetery, Old Still Road, Woodbine, Ga. 31569.
