Obituary for Margaret Cherry (Spearman)

Margaret Spearman-Cherry, 79, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Thursday, May 06, 2021 at home with her family at her bedside. She was born on May 02, 1942 in Lakeland, Ga. to the late, Horace and Alma Thomas-Spearman. After moving from Lakeland, Ga., Margaret moved to Bradenton, Fl. and then in 2004 to Jesup, Ga. to be close to her family. She was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eddie T. Ball where she sang in the church choir until her health would no longer allow her to do so. Margaret enjoyed praising God, shopping, decorating, watching her favorite show, Law and Order, but got much joy out of spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Horace and Alma Spearman; her husband, Douglas Cherry; her sisters, Pearl Turner, Peggy Randall and her brother, Thomas Spearman.

Those left to cherish her special memories: her children, Denise Spearman, Jesup, Ga. and Keitha Solomon of Lakeland, Fl.; her sisters, Dora Spearman, Jesup, Ga. and Betty Lowery of Richmond, Va.; her brothers, Gene (Mary) Spearman and Richard Spearman, both of Baxley, Ga. and Earl Spearman of Bradenton, Fl.; two grandchildren, Quiana Love, Jesup, Ga. and Roderick Booker, Bradenton, Fl.; nine great grandchildren, Dayshanay (DaQuon) Nixon, Na'Ceidra Mitchell, Cedric Mitchell, Jr. and Jeremiah Love, all of Jesup, Ga., Joshua, Jacob, Josiah, Jordan and Mekhi Booker, all of Bradenton, Fl.; two great great grandchildren, DaQuon, Jr. and DeMarcus Nixon, both of Jesup, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine St., Jesup, Ga., from 4-6 p.m.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 @ 11:00 a.m. at Old Field Memorial Cemetery, Old Field Cemetery Rd, Baxley, Ga. 31513. Remains will be viewed at the cemetery from 10 am until 11 a.m. The family procession will depart promptly from 197 Hollywood Ave., Jesup, Ga. @ 9:30 a.m., going to Old Field Cemetery.
