Obituary for Marjorie Love (Ogletree)
Marjorie Ogletree Love, a native of Auburn, AL, and current resident of Folkston, Ga. passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Marjorie was born on May 12, 1930 to Elbert Ogletree and Mamie Buford Humphries. She graduated from Lee County High School in 1951. After high school, Marjorie attended Lee County Training School in Auburn, AL where she completed her training to be able to help others. From working at a daycare center to becoming an aid at the Opelika Nursing Home, Marjorie pursued her passion with helping people in need for over 30 years. December 1951, Marjorie gave birth to her first child and only daughter, Teresa Ann. In 1957, she met and married the love of her life, her late husband, Lynwood Love in Auburn Alabama. After multiple unsuccessful pregnancies, she gave birth to her one and only son, Lynwood, Jr in June of 1970. Since 1955, Marjorie has been a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Loachapoka Alabama. She served under the late Rev. W.L. Lewis to now, Pastor Phelix Lockhart.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Lynwood Love Sr; mother, Mamie Humphries; father, Elbert Ogletree; brothers, Sam Humphries, Abraham Humphries, Haywood Humphries, Herman Humphries, and William Frank Ogletree.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Teresa Hamilton, Folkston, GA; son, Lynwood, Jr., Auburn, AL; brother, Henry “Bud” (Juanita), Marietta, GA; sister, Lillian Ogletree, Birmingham, AL; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
For all of us who were blessed to be touched by Marjorie, she left an imprint on our hearts. She lived a rich, long life which ultimately influenced many different people over the years. Not a day went by where Marjorie didn’t talk about how much her children, grandchildren, and family meant to her. She will be deeply missed. Heaven definitely gained an amazing angel!
