Martha Jean Tippins-Owens, 68, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on December 22, 2023 at Southeast Georgia Healthcare System in Brunswick, Ga. Martha was born on November 4, 1955 to the late, James and Aretha Reddish-Tippins, Sr. in Wayne County, Ga. She was educated in Northside High School and was a former member of Miracle Temple Church. Martha’s work history included her time spent working at Jones Kitchen as a cook and her tenure with Wayne County Board of Education as a dietician for 37 years prior to her retirement. Her hobbies included cooking, shopping and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by both parents, James and Aretha Tippins, Sr.; her sister, Evelyn Tippins; her brothers, Marion Tippins, Sr. and James Henry Tippins, Jr.; her mother in-law, Dorothy Tillman; her brothers in-law, Allen and Jack Johnson and James Owens.

Those left to cherish her memory: her husband, Brooker T. Owens; two daughters, Shanquallis (Daniel) Barnhill and Monica (DaShawn) McGee, both of Jesup, Ga.; like a son, Lester (Mashanna) Tippins, Jesup, Ga.; her grandchildren, Daniel, Marcus, Joshua (Katie), Christopher and Jacob Barnhill, Kaiden and Khloee McGee; (9) great grandchildren; one sister, Peggy (Chelano) Jackson, Jesup, Ga.; three brothers, Donnell (Ella Mae) Tippins, Sammy (Patricia) Tippins and Arnie (Lucinda) Tippins, all of Jesup, Ga.; close friends, Ethel Wilson, Sandra Bell and Jean Reddish and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends that will miss her tremendously.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel from 4-6 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 @ 1:00 pm at Grace Assembly of God, 2324 Rayonier Road, Jesup, Ga. 31545, Dr. James McGee officiating.

Interment in Sunset Oaks Memorial Gardens, Jesup, Ga.
