Obituary for Marvin Ellis

Marvin Ellis, 64, of Jesup, Ga., passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019, at his residence. He was born on April 8, 1955, to the late, James Lee Ellis, Sr. and Inez Johnson Ellis in Jesup, Ga. He was educated in the public school system of Wayne County and graduated in the Class of 1974. Marvin has been gainfully employed from an early age mainly because of his ability to fix pretty much anything. He was a former employee at Georgia Narrow Fabric, but, the majority of his work history was at Royal Funeral Home as an assistant, but, in so many capacities. Not only has Royal Funeral Home suffered a great loss, but the community as a whole, we all have suffered a loss. Marvin was a person that lived to help others, one call, and he was there, or on the way. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by both parents, James Lee and Inez Johnson-Ellis, two brothers, James, Jr. and Jimmy Ellis, and his sister, Gloria Jean Woodward.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a son, Terrence Ellis, Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Denise Ellis Columbus, Ga.; four step children that he raised as his own, Kawanna Graves, Jacksonville, Fl., Aundreal Key, Charlene Key and Lorenzo Key, all of Jesup, Ga.; three sisters, LaNora Jackson and Donna Ellis, both of Jesup, Ga., and Connie Ellis of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Terry (Irene) Ellis, Savannah, Ga.; a brother in-law, Richard J. Woodward, Tallahassee, Fl.; three grandchildren; one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss him sorely.
