Obituary for Marvin Jones

Marvin R. Jones, 60, of Jesup, Ga., passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020, at Signature Healthcare in Savannah, Ga. He was born on April 6, 1960, to the late Alex and Willie Maude Johnson-Jones, in Wayne County, Ga. Marvin was educated in the public school system of Wayne County and worked at Wayne Line Furniture and Poppell Produce for many years. He was a member of New Covenant Church, under the leadership of Pastor Marshall Collins. Marvin was preceded in death by both parents and his wife, Phyllis Jones. Marvin will always be remembered as a quiet, loving and kind person that enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing: four sisters, Evelyn Bryant, Glenda Bryant, Elizabeth Fuller and Dorothy Jones-Smith; five brothers, Chester Jones, Frank Bonham, Charles Jones, Carter (Kesha) Jones and Joe Alex Jones; his close and special friend of 17 years, Doris Bush; his adopted Poppell family, as well as, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

There will not be a viewing.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 @ 10 a.m., at Jesup City Cemetery, First St/Hwy 84, Jesup, Ga.

Everyone planning to attend the services are asked to PLEASE wear your masks to protect against COVID 19. Because of concerns of the covid-19 virus, there will not be a repast following graveside services.
