Melbra A. Brownlee, 67, of Screven, Ga., passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020, following a lengthy illness, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 3, 1952, to the late, Arnie and Janie Carter-Brownlee in Wayne County, Ga. Melbra was educated in the public school system of Wayne County and graduated from Northside Training School in the Class of 1971. She was a member of St. James Holiness Church in Screven, Ga., since her early childhood, and was currently a member of Beraiah International Deliverance Ministries in Pearson, Ga. Her hobbies included singing, sewing, cooking, and praising God. Melbra was employed with both Bonnie and Grace Manufacturing Companies in Screven, Ga.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Arnie and Janie Brownlee; two sisters, Audrey Grigsby and Connie Bacon, her three brothers, Oscar Vail, Jr., George Brownlee, and Leander Brownlee.
Those left to cherish her memory: eight siblings, Earthell Williams, Pompano Beach, Fl., Avis (Stanley) Wooley, Conyers, Ga., Charlotte (Ira Joe) Spencer, Lumber City, Ga., Pamela Brownlee, Vinegrove, Kentucky, Denver (Bette) Brownlee, San Diego, Ca., Larkie Bates, Screven, Ga., Quincy (Adebukola) Adesokan, Clearwater, Fl., and Varija Brownlee, Screven, Ga.; her uncles, Bishop Carter (Martha), Sr., Tampa, Fl. and Sylvester Brownlee, Pompano Beach, Fl.; her aunts, Aretha Carter, Savannah, Ga., Delphia James, Screven, Ga., LuVicy Robinson, Screven,Ga., Nora Lee Brownlee, Hollywood, Fl., Annie Ruth Swanson, Douglas, Ga. and Alice Gamble, Franklin, Kentucky; her sister in-laws, Virginia Vail, Screven, Ga., Patricia Brownlee, Chicago, Il and Bonnie Williams-Lane, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; her god daughter, Shondra Wright, Screven, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.
